The BioTrack is a modular system that is based on high-performance
conveyor-based automation that has been sucessfully employed for
many years in industries such as manufacturing and semi-conductor. By
adapting this technology to the laboratory we can achieve high-speed
automation that is also robust and reliable.
The system is based on the BioTrack conveyor system, which uses a
patented bidirectional slip roller design or a high-precision edge-belt design. The slip roller design allows multiple plates to be processed on te same conveyor, with some plates stopped and some plates moving. The edge belt design allows the plates to be precisely positioned, such as for 1536 pipetting. These conveyors allow for variable
speed, bi-directional transport of microplates, tip boxes, and other labware
(even non-microplate footprint) in either portrait or landscape orientation. The design also
offers the flexibility to be reconfigured to changing layouts.
The BioTrack can be integrated directly onto the deck of an automated
liquid handler. By adding stop positions on the conveyor multiple plates
can be brought in for liquid handling operations and then quickly moved
down the line to other instruments or to storage for incubation, all without
the need for complicated multi-axis robot arms.
The BioGrip module is used to quickly transfer plates from the BioTrack
to instruments such as washers, dispensers, sealers, and readers.
The Microplate Stacker is fast, reliable, flexible, and dramatically
improves the productivity of multiple applications in genomics,
proteomics, drug research and diagnostics. It’s designed to
work with most microplates and laboratory diagnostic instruments. Quickdraw offers one
of the fastest Maildrop stackers
on the market, and it can now be used to integrate and automate third-party instruments using OVERLORD 2 automation software. The
speed is the result of Quickdraw®
Stacker’s unique design, allowing
the plates to be delivered and
stacked simultaneously.
