ELISA is a commonly used technique that can benefit from automation to allow walkaway processing of plates, freeing up lab workers for other productive tasks.
The OVERLORD™ Automated ELISA workcell
provides automation of the key tasks required
to run ELISA assays, with the operator input
being to add the sample plates to the input
stacks and to analyze the data generated by
the system.

This ELISA workcell consists of:
KiNEDx arm with random access multiple stack storage for microplates
Hamilton Microlab STAR Liquid Handler
Molecular Devices AquaMax DW4 Washer/Dispenser
Tecan Power Washer 384™
Molecular Devices SpectraMax M2 Reader
Liconix SGC 40 Incubator Hotel
Tables and Mounting Hardware
PAA OVERLORD™ Automation Software
Typical order of operations:
Robot moves plate to STAR for addition of standards, QCs, blanks and samples
Robot moves plate to shaking hotel incubate 3 hours at room temp
Robot moves plate to PW 384 for wash
Robot moves plate to DW4 and primary antibody is added
Robot moves plate to shaking hotel incubate hour at room temp
Robot moves plate to PW 384 for wash
Robot moves plate to DW4 and secondary antibody is added
Robot moves plate to shaking hotel incubate1 hour at room temp
Robot moves plate to PW 384 for wash
Robot moves plate to DW4 and substrate is added
Robot moves plate to shaking hotel incubate 25 minutes at room temp
Robot moves plate to SpectraMax reader for read step
The OVERLORD software uses static scheduling to manage all of the various movements for optimal throughput of the entire batch of plates.
