Automated Nanodispensing with the Labcyte Echo™ 550 Compound Reformatter

Reformatting compound libraries is a major requirement of the pharmaceutical laboratory. Nanolitre transfers from mother-plate to daughter-plate eliminate the need for serial dilutions and improve accuracy and precision while saving time and money by eliminating consumables and washes.

Using the Biosero KiNEDx laboratory robot and OVERLORD™ from PAA , the Echo 550 can be automated and plates can be added and tracked sequentially through the system. Full reports of Echo 550 generated sample data and transfer information can be moved to other databases with OVERLORD.

When controlled by OVERLORD the KiNEDx arm can load the Labcyte Echo 550 from traditional top loading stacks, random access stacks, as well as incubators.

The user can feed the system with a worklist generated from a LIMS or data management system for cherry picking. The workcell can be further integrated with a wide range of bulk dispensing pipetting stations to complete the dilution of the compounds as part of the fully automated process. Full sample tracking is a standard part of these automated systems.

Stacks 1-3 can be filled with plates, and stack 4 is used as the starting empty stack for processed plates. The "empty" stack will automatically rotate as stacks are used.

The Echo 550 workcell is controlled by Overlord software and can be configured with any automation-compatible microplate instruments. including liquid handlers, readers, washers, dispensers, sealers, labelers, etc.
