Bigneat Containment Technology for Beckman Coulter Products
Bigneat manufactures clean air and hazard containment equipment for Laboratories and Industry including; Ductless Fume Cabinets, Fume & Dust Containment Systems, Powder Handling/Weighing Cabinets, Microbiological Safety Cabinets, PCR, Chemical Storage Systems, and Robotic & Analytical System Enclosures.
Bigneat offers a variety of enclosures for instrumentation from Beckman Coulter, Inc. Like all containment systems, the robotic enclosures can be configured for 3 types of protection:
- Operator Protection using recirculatory filtration technology. This is for systems that are using hazardous chemicals and organics, such as chemistry and synthesis platforms; also systems using radioactivity. These are negative pressure enclosures using pre-filters and high-efficiency HEPA filters.
- Product Protection using a positive-pressure clean air system. This is for useful for cell-based assay systems or other applications where exposure to airborne contaminants and dust can cause problems with the assay or detection. These are Class 100 internal conditions with pre-filters and high-efficiency HEPA filters.
- Operator and Product Protection using Class II principles. These are used for sensitive assays that involve viruses or other potential infectious agents.
Robotics containment can be configured for a single liquid handling platform such as a Biomek® 3000, Biomek® NXP or Biomek® FXP; a larger Sagian™ Core System with one or more robotic arms; or even large-scale industrial automated systems. Enclosures are also available for other products such as flow cytometers. The enclosures can be installed on top of currently-existing benchtops, or can be built as floor-standing or wheeled modules, or can even be built as entire clean rooms. Optional pass-through portals can be installed, allowing labware to be moved to external devices (such as automated incubators) via conveyor. UV sterilization is also available as an option.
Single instruments can be enclosed OR custom enclosures can be configured for any expanded automated system. Examples:
- Biomek plus plate hotel inside hood
- Biomek plus plate hotel inside hood connected to external automated incubator
- Biomek plus plate hotel plus washer plus reader inside enclosure
